LET'S TALK LEATHER BAGS!
I get a few E-mails per day inquiring if our bags are indeed genuine leather. When we first opened our store, Beverly Hills Bratz, we found the question a little odd, but it seems like everyone is obsessed with leather these days. Last week, I was shopping at a popular shoe store on Melrose in West Hollywood and the owner said she got that question on a regular basis as well. I forgot how we even got on the subject... Anyhoo, after that, I decided to write a guide for our girls who are always on the hunt for that next fabulous bag that is leather of course.
There are many types and grades of leather. Too many to actually name. Just when you think you have seen the most gorgeous leather bag, you turn around and see another one in the rarest of rare leathers from a baby goat at the top of Mount Everest at 4:40 am ... j/k. Okay, bags are priced on many details such as the designer, type, grade, weight of leather, detail and many more reasons. These are some tips to take into consideration the next time you are browsing bags.
Most used leather for bags is a cowhide.
What is the weight; is it lite weight or a heavier leather?
Look at the details and hardware.
Is the color unique, rare or a lighter hue?
Is it a designer name bag?
These are just a few questions you may want to ask your self and they should get you started in the right direction for that next handbag purchase. For instance, an oversize hobo in leather would sell for no less than $200.00 and that would be a great deal too. Most people shopping on the Internet want the bext quality for the lowest price. There's nothing wrong with that, but keep in mind that paying a few dollars more in the beginning for genuine leather, quality & craftsmanship can end up as money well spent in the end. A bag with the right look and low price tag can be good to you for a few weeks, but a better quality bag that cost more can be something that you may tire of in a few months, but always come back to with no problems.
One last tip: If it looks too good to be true, the it probably is.
Ciao,
